Administrative
Computing:
The
Director of Information Technology has primary
responsibility for the management of the administrative
computer system. The Assistant Director manages
the administrative server, installs updates
and provides users with upper level technical
support in the use of Infomaker report writing
tools and database manangement. Each module
is assigned an owner and this owner actively
participates with the Director and other module
owners in the planning and decision-making process
for Jenzabar® EX. This administrative computer
users group meets bi-monthly and is chaired
by the Director of Information Technology. The
Information Technology help desk and the Jenzabar®
EX support staff in Harrisonburg, VA support
users that have been properly trained in the
use of their particular module.
Jenzabar®
EX
Jenzabar® EX, formerly known as CMDS TEAMS Elite, software
is a comprehensive system utilizing a suite of modules for
the offices of Admissions, Academic Records, Financial Aid,
Development/Alumni, Student Life, and Business Office Services.
These modules handle student information and tracking as
the student matriculates from inquiry to enrollment to graduation
and finally through their alumni years and fund-raising
efforts. Sybase-InfoMaker serves the report writing functions
for Jenzabar® EX. The dedicated database server is now
supporting 50 administrative users.
Administrative Server
The administrative server is a dual Intel PIII 866mhz computer
that operates under Microsoft's 2000 Server Professional
client/server operating system utilizing Microsoft SQL 7.0
and provides an integrated, networked system that can support
users throughout the university including users in our off-campus
locations. Remote sites access the administrative system
through the WAN and a Citrix server application. Sybase-SQL
Anywhere also runs on the administrative server to operate
the PowerFAIDS® financial aid software, a CSS software
service, that interfaces with Jenzabar® EX.
