(Frequently Ask Questions) For Faculty And Staff
- Please
remember to write down your passwords
and put it in a secure location before you leave for
Vacations.
-
To check your email from another location:
Go to the internet and in the address type, pigeon.swu.edu
Then it will ask for your log on Ex. mclardy (all
lower case) then hit enter.
Now it will ask for your User Name Ex. mclardy (all
lower case)
Then it will ask for your password. This is the 8
character password that you use at school.
Then hit enter.
- When
you change your password:
Please remember that your password for the network
MUST be at least 8 characters long.
Also, it must have 3 of the following 4 criteria:
Upper Case, Lower Case, Numbers and Special characters
(ex. ^#$^*&({}
Just
a reminder from the Help Desk. Please change your
greeting on your voice mail before you go for a
day or more. If someone leaves you a message,
they expect you will get that message later that day,
or early the next day. If you are going to be gone for
a day or more, the people that call you need to know.
In your temporary greeting, tell them when you will be
back to get their message, and give them another
extension they can call for immediate help. Pressing
zero from any phone will return the caller to our switchboard
or your primary department number.
- To
set up a temporary greeting:
Dial
in to the Voice Mail system (the same you would check
v-mail)
Press
8 to change personal options
Press
1 to edit greeting
Press
2 to edit Temp greeting
Press
2 to (re-record greeting
Record
greeting
It
is then recorded and active

- To
check your voice mail away from school (for
Faculty and Staff only)
Dial 800-289-1292 or 644-5000. As the message
plays hit #, then enter your ext. As soon as the outgoing
message plays hit *, and then it will ask for your
password and you can access your voice mail
