Student
Computing Services:
The
Information Technology staff strives to infuse technology
into the universitys educational programs to prepare
students for the demands of a technological society.
We provide over 200 lab computers for classroom instruction
and general student use. Personal web space, printing,
scanning, and network file storage are just a few of
the services provided to our students. We encourage
technology use in the classroom by providing students
and faculty access to computers and computer projection
devices for presentations in addition to live Internet
connectivity in the classroom.
Information
Technology is responsible for the hardware and software
maintenance of all computers labs and classrooms located
on the main campus and our four off-campus locations.
Technical support is provided to all students through
resources found on our website and the university help
desk.
We
also understand the need for recreation and make every
effort to provide our students with all of the technology
comforts available in the average home of today. Resident
students enjoy a port per pillow Internet/campus
network connection in resident facilities as well as
small resident hall computer labs for late night projects.
Each resident student is provided a direct inward dial
telephone extension with many of todays calling
features. Parents enjoy the individual voice mail boxes
assigned to each resident student when the busy schedule
of college life keeps students on the go and out of
their room. When students do have time for a favorite
TV show, they can enjoy the 47-channel cable TV line
up that is live in each room.
As
a student, you will find numerous opportunities to explore
new technology resources that will enhance your academic
and social experiences. Behind these resources you will
find a support team that will improve your living and
learning as a student of Southern Wesleyan University.
