Student
Computing Services - Telephone Service:
Southern
Wesleyan University has equipped each room with a direct
inward dial telephone number. Local dial tone is provided
by NuVox Communications through the SWU telephone system.
Your local calling area includes most of the upstate of
South Carolina. Students may subscribe to the long distance
calling plan provided by the University. Telephone
numbers are assigned to rooms, and numbers are not portable.
Callers on campus may dial your room direct by using the
last four digits of the assigned number. All telephone services,
except long distance dialing, are included in your semester
room charges. Damage to telephones or telephone jacks are
the responsibility of each resident.
Local
Dialing Service
Local
telephone service is provided to all resident students
through the University telephone system. Each number is
accessible via direct inward dialing. Calls cannot be
transferred to a students room using the University
toll-free numbers or the main University number. Students
are required to use a University-supplied telephone when
connecting to the University telephone system. Telephone
security deposits are part of the room deposit. Telephone
replacement due to abuse is $175.00. Students in
Stuart-Bennett will share a telephone number with a roommate.
Long
Distance Dialing Service
Students
are encouraged to use pre-paid phone cards but cannot
use services that require connection to a long distance
platform using procedures other than a toll-free number.
(10-10-220 for example) Students in Stuart-Bennett will
share only a telephone number with a roommate.
